The Atari 2600 iPod Dock was made by Byron Casebeir, who put a broken iPod clock radio inside an Atari 2600 case, very cool!

‘Here is my weak (and slightly unfinished) Atari iPod Dock. I thought sharing may create interest for someone that can do this better. As far as specs, I gutted a broken, iPod clock radio and put it all inside the Atari. Everything works except for the clock (it was the broken part). There is even a remote control so I can sit back on my vinyl couch, drink some Tang and control my tunes…And yes, I’m still rocking a 3rd gen iPod.’

If you've got a bunch of old CDs and an iPhone / iPod USB connector laying around, then why not turn them into a functional dock? The only other tools you'll need are a dremel and all-purpose adhesive for securing securing the cable. Click here for first picture in gallery.

Using another three or four disks depending on the thickness of your charging cable cut a channel going from the edge of the disk to the center a few millimeters wider than your cable.

iPod docks seem to have slowed down in terms of releases, but Sonoro bucks the trend with the Eklipse that will not only cater for your collection of CDs, it also comes with an integrated AM/FM radio just in case you're sick and tired of your MP3 collection on the iPod and want to try more random tunes from the local jocks on the local airwaves. Well, as with most other iPod docks, your iPod will also charge up whenever it is placed atop, but it does baffle the mind why would Sonoro price this piece at $550 when it doesn't really offer anything out of the ordinary.

Lifeworks iHome iConnect Keyboard And iStand Notebook Media Center

This is the first I’ve heard of, or at least recall Lifeworks, but the recently founded company has just signed a licensing deal with iHome and from the looks of it they’re churning out some cool iPod integrated products.  I’m particularly fond of the iConnect Media keyboard, which also comes in a Mac specific flavor.  Integrated into the keyboard is an iPod dock with media controls and 2 rotating USB ports.  It’s not exactly ground breaking, but it certainly does look svelte and sexy.  Also of note is their iStand Notebook Media Center, which is just brand speak for a notebook stand with an iPod dock, speakers, 2 USB ports and touch sensitive volume controls.  The complete line will launch sometime this summer and cost $149.99 and $299.99 respectively.

Clearly not content with just pumping out one iPod alarm clock after another, iHome has decided to broaden its horizons a bit by creating a new LifeWorks line of input peripherals and computer accessories. Slated to launch in earnest sometime this summer, the new line contains just a few standout inclusions. The iPhone-friendly iConnect Keyboard (pictured above) and HTPC-centric Media Keyboard both look like formidable options for those needing a new set of keys, and there are also a gaggle of mice, webcams and headsets to choose from if those items are more your style. Unfortunately, true innovation is still few and far betwixt, but at least your USB ports will appreciate the effort.

Although the fact that the shuffle has no buttons makes it look nice, it does make certain situations a little obnoxious.  Especially for those that enjoy listening to their Shuffle in the car.  In that case the headphones aren’t plugged in, which is where the controls normally are located.  With this Scosche case, it allows for you to control your iPod and has larger sized buttons to keep things easier while you’re on the road.  After all, trying to mess with buttons when they’re tiny can be a little dangerous while driving.

The Scosche tapStick case comes with a 3 foot long aux cable.  When you plug in your iPod, it leaves an opening to plug that cable in and then you can plug it into your radio.  These aren’t out just yet though, so you’ll have to tough things out a little longer.  You can pre-order them now though and they will be shipped out as of the first week of July.  To pre-order the tapStick it’ll cost you $29.99, which isn’t too bad of a price as far as iPod accessories go.

Last week we mentioned the new Gorilla Tube Carbon Fiber iPhone Case, which looked really cool and was certainly different than some of the iPhone cases we have seen previously, the guys from Gorilla decided to send us one to check out.

I have to admit it looks even better than in the photos we saw last week, this is probably the coolest iPhone case we have seen to date.

The Gorilla Tube is more of a tube than a case for your iPhone 3G, the iPhone slides neatly inside the case, and it is a pretty snug fit, there would be no chance of your iPhone falling out of this case.

The coolest part of the case is the flipstrap, which moves down the case as you put your iPhone inside, as you can see from the photo below it makes sure your iPhone doesn’t fall out of the bottom of the case.

To get your iPhone out of the case you just pull the flipstrap and it slides your iPhone out of the top of the case.

The case is definitely very well constructed and I would say it is very durable, as it is made from 1,15mm thick carbon fiber, and it is lined with felt to make sure you iPhone is protected whilst inside the case.

If you are looking for a unique iPhone case, then this is the one to get, I love it, the design is so different, and I love the idea of the flipstrap.

Out of all the iPhone cases we have seen here Geeky Gadgets this is by far the best, and would be my personal choice.

After your fourth or fifth time ending up in a ditch or a swimming pool or a tree while attempting to find a good FM frequency to push your iPod tunes to your car stereo, you're likely looking for a better way to live. Lucky for you, Belkin has been hard at work over-engineering the problem to death, and has finally emerged with the new TuneCast Auto Live FM Transmitter. The device is 'specifically compatible' with iPhone OS 3.0, and pulls GPS data from the phone to figure out the clearest FM frequency to use based on 'geographical' data and on the recommendations of other local users. It's all controllable from the iPhone interface with the free ClearScan Live app, which reduces device juggling, but the unit also works with the iPod touch, iPod classic and iPod nano. It'll be available early this fall for $80.

Scosche TapStick Makes iPod Shuffle 3G Significantly Less Annoying, More Usable [Accessories]

Some think the button-less iPod shuffle is just okay, and others see it as near-unusable, impractical and irritating. The Scosche TapStick adds buttons and supports normal headphones, in case you hated the shuffle but for some reason bought it anyway.

The TapStick is a case that moves the awkward headphone-based controls onto the front of the gadget where they belong, which in turn frees up the headphone jack to use any pair of 'phones you choose, not just the ones Apple packages in. In effect, while these features make the shuffle easier to use, they also remove everything that separates it from previous-gen shuffles.

The TapStick also costs $39, half the price of the shuffle itself, and for that combined $120 you've got yourself a player with no screen, incredibly basic controls, the worst sound quality in the iPod family, and you've lost the slick look of the uncased shuffle. You could double your memory and get a far more feature-packed player in the 8GB iPod nano for only $30 more! This might just be a lipstick-on-a-pig situation.

Voice control accessories for the iPod aren't an entirely new invention, but they've often been more expensive than the iPods themselves. While it's still far from a bargain, this new $85 AITALK adapter for the iPod nano on display at Computex does seem to be one of the more affordable to date, and seemingly just as full-featured as the rest of the options out there. That includes the ability to speak artist and song names in addition to the usual player controls, and support for multiple languages (although it's not clear exactly which ones). Unfortunately, there's no word on a release 'round here just yet, but you can get a closer look at the device courtesy of our pals at Engadget Chinese by hitting up the read link below.

Belkin unveiled two more TuneBases for Apple devices - the TuneBase Direct and TuneBase FM which are able to route audio from said Apple devices to the vehicle stereo, enabling charging simultaneously thanks to the 12-volt port. The flexible neck comes in handy to place the iPhone in a much more favorable viewingposition, allowing users to make a call with but a single tap. The main difference between the two would be the route of audio transmission - the $70 TuneBase Direct at $70 relies on a 3.5mm port, while the more expensive $80 TuneBase FM will do it through a free FM channel, automatically scanning the frequency with the least interference before making its mark.
