Gnarly, 80s surf name aside, the radJacket CHARGE (not my capitalizing) is pretty cool, as iPod cases go. As well as keeping your Pretty safe from keys, bag- and pocket-umska, the case acts as a charger, giving your iPod Touch a whopping 46 hours of music, 12 of video and 10 of web browsing, on just a three-hour charge. Scandyna iPod Docks Amplify External Speakers [Scandyna]

There are literally hundreds of iPod docks on the market and not too many that I would lose sleep over. I must admit, however, that the Scandyna dock and V-Dock both have me intrigued; it looks great and it is a powered amplifier rather than your standard pod dock with underperforming speakers, you get two fifteen watt channels for a pair of speakers and a sub woofer; and if you buy the V-Dock, you will have a video output as well.

A 15W amplifier is not exactly loud enough to make enemies of your neighbors, but is perfectly acceptable if you want a little low-impact sound. The frequency response of 20Hz - 20 KHz +-1.0 db is good for such a small amp and in general, the Scandyna Dock is a fine example of Danish engineering. The only qualm that I have is that the V-Dock does not include Apple's authentication chip, meaning that it won't play nice with more recent iPod models. I don't have a recent iPod model, so it would not affect me, but sooner or later I am going to want to upgrade and that is enough of an incentive for me to steer away from their higher priced model. Priced to move at $219 with the V Dock selling for $249.

You may or may not recall this nifty portable Philips DVD player that let you snap your iPod into its case so you could play your digital media on the go. This new variant on the design is less about taking your player on the road, and more about playing your media at home.

Perfect for a kitchen countertop or any other place where you don’t need a big screen, Philips DCP951/37 Docking Entertainment System moves away from the clamshell case design to a flat, one-piece design that can stand up on its own. The player features a 9-inch diagonal LCD screen and built-in stereo speakers.

A handy iPod dock/charger pops out of the side of the player, keeping it out of harm’s way until you need it. In addition to playback from DVD or iPod, there’s a built-in SD/MMC card slot if you prefer to keep your media on memory cards. It supports a wide variety of playback formats including DVD, DVD+/-R and DVD+/-RW, (S)VCD, DivX & MPEG4 videos.

Since the player’s DNA comes from Philips portable DVD line, it’s also got a rechargeable battery, so you can take it on the road. You should get enough time to watch about 2.5 hours of video on a single charge.

The only real downside that I can see to this player is the displays less-than-stellar 640x220 resolution. For a 9-inch screen that’s pretty darned weak. As long as you can deal with the low display resolution, the DCP951 looks like a good fit for tight spaces and can perform double-duty as a portable.

Wave Case for iPhone

As I may have mentioned, my iPhone is terribly spoiled; always has to have the latest case, the newest earbuds, or the system mysteriously slows down. Right now, it's sporting the new Wave case by Griffin, ($24.99) which is a bright red and made of a translucent polycarbonate shell.

Named the Wave case because of the unique wave-shaped closure, it provides greater interlocking surface area, so you can carry your iPhone and keep it somewhat protected in case of drops. Handily protecting your iPhone without impinging on it's functionality, it comes in translucent red, pink, orange, green, blue, and black, but please don't tell my iPhone.
